JONKO BOARDCOMPANY IS A 100% REAL AND HARDCORE BELGIAN SKATEBOARD COMPANY THAT AIMS TO KEEP THE REALNESS IN SKATEBOARDING
The driving force behind this project is someone who has been riding skateboards for many years.
Willem was born in 1987 and started skateboarding in 1999 thanks to the release of the game Tony Hawk Pro Skater on the PlayStation. As he got older, Willem started surfing more and more because it is less stressful on the body. By waiting hours, days and months in the sea for good waves, he has come to realize that nothing can compete with skateboarding. Once a skater, always a skater. 100%!
In the late 90s, skateboarding was seriously on the rise worldwide, peaking in the early 2000s. Skateboarding was simply the coolest activity at that time. After that, skateboarding lost a bit of popularity. Many of the countless children and young people who started skating in the 1990s had given up by now, but a hard core has always kept going.
In recent years there has been something of a revival in the skate scene, partly thanks to the many skaters from the 90s who have now started associations or companies in the scene, which often offer skating lessons and skate camps, which means that the number of skaters who have been bitten is steadily increasing.
In the meantime, skateboarding has developed from a hobby or lifestyle into a real Olympic sport. Thanks to this development, skateboarding is receiving more attention and opportunities.
Despite this change, there are still many passionate skateboarders who believe that skateboarding is not a sport but rather a lifestyle and/or performance art.
This idea, the core of skateboarding, should never be forgotten!
Skateboarding is and remains first and foremost one of the most dangerous, creative and coolest activities on the planet, which is not for everyone.
For many, skateboarding still means getting together with friends to shred things to pieces until late at night, hanging out, traveling, meeting new souls, with or without a good beer or a big jonko.
In the skate scene, drugs and alcohol are often abused, with Jonko Board Company we hope to discuss this and do something about it ourselves by donating part of the proceeds to charities that deal with drug problems.
Let' keep it real!
